This tea is the perfect balance of color and flavor combined to excite your taste buds and add a little peppiness to your step. The blend of cinnamon, sarsaparilla, and a citrus flavor, combined with other delicious spices make this tea loved by all of my children.
All Organic: Sarsaparilla root, Cinnamon, Orange peel, Ginger, Licorice root, Cloves, and Yellow dock root.
Sarsaparilla, Smilax officinalis, or Smilax ornata the main character in this tea, does not disappoint in the spotlight, with a concentration of natural steroids and saponins that reduce inflammatory effects and have other anti-aging properties. According to some research, this plant possesses at least five steroidal saponins, including two newly discovered furostanol saponins known as sarsaparilloside B and sarsaparilloside C. These saponins have been shown to have antiproliferative activities that help kill cancer cells, especially those that affect the colon’s lining. Sarsaparilla also contains dozens of other anti-inflammatories, antioxidant acids, oils, and chemicals that lower oxidative stress and have anti-aging effects. Studies have found that flavonoids, alkaloids, and phenylpropanoids are some of the major bioactive components identified within wild sarsaparilla that induce apoptosis and have growth-inhibitory effects without damaging healthy cells. I am glad to make Sarsaparilla in my Mad Hatter Herbal Tea a staple in the pantry.
