Goldenrod is an excellent decongestant, from allergies, sinusitis, flu, and the common cold. I use goldenrod tincture and tea to help with congestion. Also, I use the goldenrod tincture for Urinary Tract Infections with other medicinals. The diuretic quality of goldenrod is also helpful in treating edema, gout, and kidney stones. Used in a multitude of ways, topically and internally. Goldenrod is very drying to the system, therefore, it is a short-term use medicinal. I am blessed to have many different Solidago, spp. growing in the gardens. I have found goldenrod to be an excellent decongestant and an effective aid for Urinary tract Infections.
