Organic Elderberry Sambucus Nigra, American Elderberry, Elder, Elder Berry, Black Elderberry. Perennial, deciduous, multistemmed bush to a small tree. The berries are large and tasty. Medicinally used for Colds, Flu, Immune support. Source of anthocyanins, bioflavonoids, vitamins, and antioxidants. The medicinal preparation of these berries in syrup, tinctures, oxymels, glycerites are excellent for treating the common cold and overall boost to immunity. Elderberries prefer rich, moist soil in the part shade to full sun. The more sunshine the more flowers. They are best placed as an understory to a higher tree canopy. Advise protecting from deer during the first few years of growth.
