Mountain Rose Herbs is at it again, offering ways to help local herbalist through the Grants 4 Plant project.
MRH will award five grants in the amount of $4,000 each to those who demonstrate that they share MRH’s mission-driven philosophy, passion for herbalism, and commitment to taking care of people while protecting the planet. They are looking for grassroots organizers, small businesses (that give back to their community), home herbalists, and nonprofit organizations that are poised to bring their visions to life and make a lasting impact.
Hickory Heal Gardens is Passionate and Determined
Now, doesn’t that describe Hickory Heal Gardens? I am mission-driven to share with my local community about our plant world. Very passionate about medicinals, I donate every opportunity I am given, such as the local Venezuela shipment. So committed to protecting the local rare medicinals, we became a sanctuary. Truly, I love this beautiful place I call home.
We studied to grow organically and protect the local pollinators. We consider the effects of our footprints. We teach the unbroken cycle of dependence between the earth and the people that roam upon its gifts. We recognized our harm and teach a new way, a way of hope to the younger generations.
Can we as people make a difference for our friends who give so much? These friends hold secrets. These friends hold treasures. These friends give unending. These friends are plants. Food, medicine, and wisdom are the gifts they bring.

Hickory Heal Gardens did it!
I submitted an application and video for the Grants 4 Plants project. My project is a Children’s Activity Room. This past winter I drew out the plans for a room that would be centrally located between the Children’s garden and the Woodland trails. The Children’s Activity Room will provide shelter from the rain and a break from the sun. It will have tables, microscopes, and other botany materials to explore plant life and pollinators. Just outside the room will be a handwashing station with a small private room with a composting toilet. I am so excited about the many opportunities this room will give. You can view the video on the Hickory Heal Gardens Facebook page. As you will see I am very nervous!
So join our mission!
Learn to identify the plants in your back yard. Know the At-Risk and To Watch plants in your local area and state. Become aware of the natural world around you including the pollinators. Recognize the interdependence of our communities. Share ways with your family to take care of the earth you are given. Be empowered to go forward making changes in lifestyles in seasonal living, growing nourishing foods, or supporting local farmers, and make herbal remedies that support your family’s health naturally.
Be well!
