Dandelion Root Tea Recipe
This simple recipe is designed to maximize the immune-supporting, detoxifying, and anti-inflammatory benefits of dandelion root.
Ingredients:
- 1–2 tsp dried dandelion root (or 1 tbsp fresh root, chopped)
- 2 cups water
- Optional additions for flavor and added benefits:
- 1/2 tsp fresh grated ginger (anti-inflammatory)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (balances blood sugar and enhances flavor)
- 1 tsp honey (antimicrobial and soothing)
Instructions:
- Prepare the root:
- If using fresh dandelion root, rinse thoroughly and chop into small pieces.
- Simmer:
- Add the dandelion root to a small saucepan with 2 cups of water.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- Strain:
- Remove the tea from heat and strain it into a mug using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
- Enhance the flavor (optional):
- Stir in grated ginger or cinnamon while simmering.
- Sweeten with honey after straining.
- Serve:
